Analysis of Cutting Temperature and Wear of Thread tap

In the process of cutting plastic metals, the workpiece material is pushed by the front cutting surface of the gas tap, undergoes deformation, and is eventually torn off to form chips. There are three deformation zones in this process. The degree of deformation in the first deformation zone characterized by shear slip and the second deformation zone characterized by internal friction determines the shape of the chips, the magnitude of the cutting force and the cutting temperature of the gas tap used in the machine. The size of chip deformation can be represented by relative slip r ε or deformation coefficient . Different processing states generate four types of chips: strip-shaped, nodal, granular, and shattered. The chip morphology also undergoes transformation with changes in workpiece materials, Nut tap, cutting parameters, and other factors.

Cutting force and cutting temperature are important indicators for measuring the cutting state, which can be obtained through experiments. They are external manifestations of internal changes such as deformation and friction during cutting, and are interrelated and related to factors such as workpiece, gas tap, and cutting parameters. The cutting force comes from:

① Overcoming the resistance to elastic deformation of the processed material;

② Overcoming the resistance to plastic deformation of the processed material;

③ Overcome the frictional forces of chips on the front cutting surface of Thread tap, the transition surface of workpieces, and the machined surface on the rear cutting surface of Thread tap.

The empirical formulas for calculating the cutting force of Thread tap in practical production can be divided into two categories: one is the exponential formula; Another type is calculated based on unit cutting force. Cutting temperature is the most important factor affecting the wear of Thread tap, and measures are mainly taken to control it from two aspects: heat source and heat dissipation pathway. Studying the distribution of cutting temperature helps to explore the laws of cutting.
