There are many brands of cobalt taps on the market now, and the prices of the same specifications vary greatly due to the different materials used. This makes many buyers unsure where to start. Here are a few simple methods to teach you.
When purchasing (excluding cobalt taps without testing equipment and slots), simple testing can be performed
1. Check whether the front end thread of the 5% cobalt taps groove is evenly ground (chamfered), and whether the cutting edge of the groove has a quick cut. Good ones are in a regular 7-shape, while bad ones are in an inverted 7-shape or U-shape (exiting the Thread tapping will cause two cuts, which are prone to breakage and affect the accuracy of the thread);
2. Check the heat treatment condition and pull the 5% cobalt taps into the air in a parabolic shape (about 5 meters) to see if it breaks. If it breaks, it indicates high brittleness;
3. Knock off the Extrusion tap and see if its fracture surface is slanted and long, with fine molecular particles in the fracture surface, indicating that the heat treatment and material are good. If it is flat or slanted and short, coarse molecular particles are not good.
The quality of cobalt taps mainly depends on their raw materials, heat treatment, groove shape, accuracy, equipment, speed, processed materials, hardness, operator quality, and so on. When choosing an 5% cobalt taps, special attention should be paid to the original material, heat treatment, and groove shape of the 5% cobalt taps. It is recommended to choose different types of cobalt taps for different machining holes.
